OceanWay will use a proven and reliable buoy system located 27 miles from Los Angeles shoreline to funnel natural gas from our ships into Southern California's pipeline system. The buoys will be submerged 100 feet below the ocean surface, eliminating visual impacts and maximizing security.
OceanWay ships will bring the buoys to the surface to connect to them. The ships will then deliver their cargoes of natural gas through the buoys and into natural gas pipelines.
This buoy system is already in operation in the Gulf of Mexico and is planned for two more projects off the coast of Massachusetts. During Hurricane Katrina, a ship was able to safely stay connected to the delivery buoy and safely send natural gas to shore.
